Sloppy joes are an American creation that has been around since at least the 1950s. They probably got their start as a variation of the "loose meat" sandwiches that were popular at that time. “Loose meat" sandwiches didn`t contain tomato sauce.

According to legend, a cook named Joe at Floyd Angell`s café in Sioux City, Iowa, added tomato sauce to his “loose meat" sandwiches and the "sloppy joe" sandwich was born. And the rest, as they say, is history!

Sloppy joes are popular with most children and are a favorite in lunch rooms in schools all over the country. They are also a favorite of parents when dinner time approaches, since sloppy joes are easy and inexpensive to make.

COOK THIS RECIPE IN 6 SIMPLE STEPS

Add 1 tbsp vegetable oil in large skillet over high heat until bubbles start to appear in the oil. Add 400 gr ground beef, breaking apart into crumbles as it cooks for about 5 minutes. Season it with half tbsp of salt. Drain oil and water released from the meat and put
Clean and chop on small pieces one onion and one bell pepper and add it it to same skillet as well as 1 tbsp of vegetable oil and cook them for 4 minutes until soft. Add one chopped garlic and cook for additional 1 minute until fragrant. Add beef plus 200 ml of tomato paste back to the skillet. Stir well and cook for 8 minutes In uncovered skillet on medium heat until there is almost no water left from tomato paste.
Meanwhile add 2 tbsp of vegetable oil on a clean skillet. Clean and slice potatoes and fry for 10 - 15 minutes. (Tip: to make perfect fried potatoes cook them with cover skillet for 10 minutes on a medium heat and then remove cover and cook it 5 more minutes. Stir few times during cooking and season with half tbsp of salt.
Remove potatoes from the skillet and place them on a plate. Fill burger buns with ground meat and place them next to the fried potatoes. Enjoy your MealDuo
